COURT REFUSES TO ACCEPT DASUKI APPLICATION TO SQUASH CHARGES

Court refuses to accept the application of Colonel Sambo Dasuki who seeks to quash the charges against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Justice peter Affem the trail judge said
it was the Department of State Services (DSS) which arrested Colonel Dasuki therefore EFCC had no right to grant him bail. He does not dispute the anti-graft agency for releasing the former National Security Adviser (NSA) on bail but is of the view that though the EFCC and the DSS were Agencies of the Federal Government, the action of one agency should not count for that of the other saying that they were set up under separate laws and have separate responsibilities in ensuring law and order in the country.
“To this end, the application has failed in its entirety.”
