Dorcas Awinja a 27-year-old Nairobian woman is critically lying ill in Nairobi Women’s Hospital Nakuru branch after haven fallen a victim of marital infidelity after 12 years of marriage she sustained burns after her
husband poured paraffin chemical on her and set her on fire over a love text message. She is critically wounded on the neck, arms, breast, thorax, abdomen, back and legs. She depends on the nurses to feed, dress the wounds and bathe.
The mother of two from Ipali village, Luanda sub-county in Vihiga County says, “My husband poured paraffin on my nylon dress and lit fire on me, leaving me with all these injuries.Awinja after her day business and duty picked up her husband phone and read his message after he allegly ignored his calls. Awinja who was outraged by the text sent to her husband by his lover confronted the man. Only for the man to pour her
paraffin and lit a match stick, setting her on fire. Awinja said she started crying for help and her neighbors rushed her to Coptic Hospital in Maseno. Her husband in a bid to cover up his devilish act informed her relatives that she has set herself on fire. The incident was reported at Luanda Police Station who started a search for the suspect. Unfortunately for Kilonzo who is the victim’s husband Awinja has recorded a statement on the event of the incident and given it to Emuhaya police boss Benson. Kilonzo knowing that he is guilty sought for other ways to handle the matter to avoid his punishment but unfortunately his act could not be covered up by the act of marriage as Awinja insists that justice must prevail..
